Moorish lawn

Among lovers of landscape design and just those who appreciate nature are especially popular by the Moorish lawn. Its bright colors can more often be seen near country houses and in the city.

The Moorish lawn is more like a flowerbed. It is a small area planted by various meadows and plants. The main feature of the Moorish lawn is that it blooms from early spring to the first real cold weather. This is achieved due to the special selection and combination of the “inhabitants” of the lawn. And what is important, such a “miracle” can be broken by any amateur gardener. Caring for him is also quite simple.

Advantages of the Moorish lawn:

unpretentious in care;

has a long flowering period;

grows on scarce soil;

Decorate any landscape.

From words to business: how to create a lawn

The breakdown of the Mauritan lawn consists of the following stages:

selection of a suitable place;

preparatory work on the basis;

Sowing plants.

The last thing remains is to leave.

Place for the lawn

Moorish “Luke” looks great only in a small area. If it is broken on a decent piece of land, then it will look sloppy and not aesthetically aesthetically pleasing. Therefore, pick up a compact place. It can be both an open area and a place among fruit trees. The main thing is that the site is generously lit by sunlight.

The Moorish lawn can decorate such places in the country, which, so to speak, “stand idle”. Another advice – do not protect the flowerbed with anything. Bricks, stones and cobblestones visually, as it were, “cut off” the riot of Moorish greenery from the general landscape, and this will deprive him of the “highlight”. It is worth noting that you need to choose a place for the “meadow” since autumn.

Here are ideas for breaking:

plant the territory along the fence, making a long lawn with an area of about one meter. But if the fence throws a shadow, then such a place does not fit;

Arrange small flower beds (up to 2.5 meters in diameter) between fruit trees. This solution will turn an ordinary garden into a sample of landscape art. There are practical benefits here: flower beds will attract insects necessary for pollination.

Selection and preparation of soil for the lawn

For the lawn you need soil with a slightly acidic or neutral PH environment. You can determine the level with a special device, or using litmus paper. To do this, put the earth from a depth of no more than 10 cm on its piece. The soil does not fit if it “gives” red color. In this place you can break the lawn if the check shows blue, yellow or green color.

The next stage is the preparation of the soil for sowing. To remove weeds, it should be treated with herbicides. Two weeks after that, the site must be dug up by half a meter, simultaneously removing unnecessary roots and roots. At the same time, the soil can be fertilized with manure, peat or humus. Then take and roll the top layer. After the same time, you can sow. If you do this in the spring, then dig a plot again to enrich the Earth with oxygen.

The fight against weeds should pay due attention. If you can’t get rid of them completely, then during flowering they will spoil the entire beauty of the lawn with their appearance.

Sowing the lawn

You can sow your Moorish flowerbed in the fall, this is the best option. If it does not work, then in early May. There are two ways of planting seeds:

All planting material sits out immediately;

First, grass and cereal crops are planted, and then flowers.

In the first case, a lawn similar to a meadow will rise, in the second – to a designer flowerbed, where, against the background of herbs and cereals, flowers will stand out with bright spots. For greater effect, they can be sown in different ways: circles, rows, diagonally, vertically, etc. D.

Seeds are planted in moisturized soil to a depth of 5 mm, then buried with a rake. It is better to pour manually, from a watering can, so as not to wash planting material from the grooves. You can improve germination by closing the beds with non -woven cloth. The first sprouts can be seen in a couple of weeks, and the lawn will bloom by the beginning of June.

Care for the Mauritan lawn

It should be noted here that the Moorish lawn can be annual or perennial.

The first mowing is produced before the flowering of plants, when cereals and herbs have risen – this enables flowering crops to develop normally. In the fall, when the flowering period has passed, the grass is completely mowed. Do not remove it right away, let it lie down for several days so that the seeds are scorched in the soil.

Annual lawn is completely mowed, dug up and sow next year again. The long -term “meadow” is cut like this: the first time after the cereals, but before the appearance of perennial crops; the second time – when the flowering period is completed. Such a lawn in the future needs to be regularly watered and plundered.
